       Why Take Childbirth Classes??

  • Boost Your Confidence
  • Build a Support Network
  • Address You Fears and Concerns
  • Bond With Your Birth Partner
  • Gather Skills and Tools For Coping with Labor
  • Connect With Your Baby!

The experience and memories of your birth will stay with you your whole life. Few events are as pivotal and defining to women as the births of their children. While we may achieve much in our lives, few experiences will carry as much impact as childbirth. This is true for the whole family, mothers, partners, babies, even siblings!

I teach an informal yet comprehensive evidence based class. It is conversational, inspirational, educational and above all, honest and funny. My class is geared towards all kinds of families, birthing in all kinds of ways, and I foster an open, accepting and judgement free environment.  I have an evidence based bias towards natural childbirth in most cases. Birth works! Birth is normal! But I also want you to be ready for any curve balls that come your way, so we’ll talk about all the other stuff, too. I want you to know all your options, as the only one who knows what is right for you, is you!

You will come away from this class with the tools to:

  • cope with labor
  • make informed choices about your body/baby/birth
  • prepare for labor and birth physically, mentally and emotionally
  • identify your village and gather support
  • connect to community resources
  • initiate and establish a healthy breastfeeding relationship with your babe
  • care for your newborn
  • invite the birth of your child to be a strong foundation your family can build on

I teach group classes at Essential Birth and Family Center in Seward Park, and private in home classes all over Seattle and the Eastside on your schedule. Classes at the Center are an eight week series including a two-hour breastfeeding class taught by lactation specialist and 2013 IBCLC candidate Camie Goldhammer. This series costs $200 (need based scholarships are available). If you prefer a private in home class we will work together to determine the length and schedule that best fits your needs.

Plan to take a class that ends at least two to five weeks before your due date, or come early in your pregnancy and have even more time to prepare for your best birth!

Next Class Series at Essential Birth and Family Center begins January 21st. This comprehensive Childbirth Preparation class runs for 8 weeks, Tuesday nights 6:30-8:30pm.

We are also offering a 4 hour Essential Labor Skills class on Saturday February 1st 1-5pm.

Space is limited, so register early!
